Recently, CREAF and the Consortium of the Collserola Mountain Range Natural Park have combined expertise to jointly create a research space at Can Balasc, a XVI century house which was renovated and reequipped in 1999 with laboratories, offices, meeting rooms, classrooms and storage space. 

At Can Balasc there is also the possibility for installing experimental plots within 89 hectares of the park. At present, CREAF has a permanent monitoring plot at its disposition, which figures within the European Network LTER (Long Term Ecological Research Network).
