David Tarrasón

PhD in Biology, specializing in soil science by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB, 2004). I am currently Territorial Development consultant at FAO and researcher collaboration at CREAF.

I have conducted my research in several areas of terrestrial ecology: land degradation and and soil ecology, organic matter content and CO2 fluxes in soils and its modeling. I have participated in several projects in Latin America (Peru, and Nicaragua in 2005, 2006-2010, Guatemala, 2009) where we have developed integrated approaches for evaluating dry tropical ecosystems. Currently I am particularly interested in studying the dynamics of socio-ecological systems and their relation to global change.

I was associate professor at the UAB and coordinated several undergraduate theses at UAB and FAREM/UNAN (Nicaragua). Currently I lead a thesis focused on the study of ecosystem services of Ramsar systems in Nicaragua.
