RESEARCH TECHNICIAN FOR BESTMAP PROJECT

CREAF is seeking for a technician, full-time contract, for developing the CREAF contribution to the BESTMAP project (“Behavioural, Ecological and Socio-economic Tools for Modelling Agricultural Policy”, ref. H2020-SC5-2018-817501-2) in the H2020 program, funded by the European Union.
The contract is initially for 6 months, starting in May 2021, and could be extended until the end of the project (31/08/2023), depending on funding and the development of the project. The salary offered is 22.576,75 € gross per year.

TASKS
- Develop a storymap and dashboard extension to a web map browser to add the needed functionalities and protocols to serve the project needs and in continuation of the group legacy.
- Develop other web technologies in support of the project needs and in continuation of the group legacy.
- Contribute to the identification of biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Indicators.
- Work following new and consolidated OGC standards and documents.
- Maintain communication with the relevant project consortium and monitor the project evolution.
- Produce materials/data in supporting of writing scientific literature.
- Elaborate the project deliverables assigned to CREAF.
- Contribute to the integration of EU funded projects results in the MiraMon software (desktop, mobile and web) as a mechanism to elevate the TRL of solutions.
- Contribute to the promotion Grumets research group and to the use of the MiraMon software (desktop, mobile and web).

REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Informatics, Physics or equivalent.
- GIS skills.
- Some level of programming skills in JavaScript or similar.
- Good level of English, written and spoken.
- Availability for traveling abroad (when pandemic permits). ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS
- PhD in Environmental, Biological Sciences, Geography, Informatics, Physics or similar.
- Experience in development work or supporting research and development.
- Some level of programming skills in Python, C or similar.
- Training and experience in topics such as Ecology, Agriculture, Phenology, Remote Sensing, Data Management, Analytics, Citizen Science and application of geospatial standards.
- Experience in developing applications in cloud environments such as the Copernicus DIAS.
- Experience in previous European Union projects.
- Building or contribution to web map browsing technologies.
- Deep knowledge in geospatial standards (metadata, data quality web services, APIs).
- Careful attention to details.
- Working independently but in constant coordination with a team.
- Good level of Catalan, written and spoken.

SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA
1.
