CREAF

CREAF is seeking to appoint a post-doctoral researcher to coordinate the Ecosystem Modelling Facility (EMF), to work full-time in the context of a SEVERO OCHOA award (2018 SEVERO OCHOA Excellence Centers, ref. CEX2018-000828-S, from the Agencia Estatal de Investigación). The EMF aims at coordinating modelling work and data infrastructures at CREAF, providing support to CREAF’s research groups on model development and application, as well as developing and leading large-scale modelling projects on ecosystem dynamics in response to global change drivers. This contract is scheduled to start in early January 2021, and will have a duration of 3 years. The salary range offered is between 33.865,12 and 31.177,41 € gross per year, depending on the candidate’s conditions.

TASKS AND PROGRAMME OF WORK
- Coordinate the activities of the EMF. These activities include: mapping of current CREAF modelling activities; networking with other national and international modelling groups; develop internal standards for data and metadata quality and modelling workflows; set up a repository of models and meta-models developed at CREAF; contribute towards a harmonized data infrastructure; provide guidance to staff and students, and collaborate with other researchers as required; promote and organize specialized courses on modelling tools; and work to ensure the mid-term viability of the facility.
- Lead large-scale modelling projects on ecosystem dynamics in response to global change drivers, which will be decided and developed together with other researchers at CREAF.
- Coordinate all the members of the EMF, initially including a data scientist and a modeller/programmer technician.

REQUIREMENTS
- A completed PhD on a topic related to the current project description (ecological modelling).
- Demonstrable expertise in model development.
- Demonstrable expertise in managing and using large databases.
- Demonstrable expertise in programming and in using advanced modelling techniques.
- International working experience.
- Knowledge of English.

ADDITIONAL (ASSESSABLE) QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in working alongside and/or coordinating large research groups, preferably in an international environment.
- Experience in team coordination and management in an academic/professional environment.
- Experience in developing successful proposals for competitive project applications.
- Advanced knowledge of English.

SELECTION PROCES AND CRITERIA
The selection process is led by the specific scientific commission, and will be overseen by the Management Office and the Human Resources Area of CREAF. This process consists of:
1.
