CREAF

CREAF is seeking for a predoctoral researcher, to work with a sole full-time contract on the following two projects (alternatively/simultaneously):

- CREAF contribution to the COS4CLOUD project (“Co-designed Citizen Observatories Services for the EOS-Cloud”), ref. 863463, from the H2020 program, funded by the European Union.
- CREAF contribution to the WeObserve project (“An Ecosystem of Citizen Observatories for Environmental Monitoring”), ref. 776740, from the H2020 program, funded by the European Union.

The contract will last until the end of the tasks detailed below in the framework of those projects or until a successful presentation of a PhD dissertation.

TASKS
 Main:

1. Do research in fields such as Citizen Science, Data Management, Integration Analysis and Web Mapping, directed to solve the challenges that COS4CLOUD faces and in contribution to the dissemination of the results of the projects.
2. Writing scientific literature and successfully presenting a PhD thesis.
3. Web development and software development.
4. Contribute to the promotion Grumets research group and to the use of the MiraMon software (desktop, mobile and web).
5. Apply geospatial standards and contribute to their development.

 Other:

1. Participate in the elaboration of deliverables assigned to CREAF.
2. Deliver of the work required to fulfill the tasks assigned to CREAF.
3. Promote the usage of the RitmeNatura platform.
4. Attend project meetings, and thematic conferences.

REQUIREMENTS

 Degree in Computer Science, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Geography, or similar.
 Demonstrated knowledge in web development and/or software development.
 Knowledge and skills in group work.
 Good level of Catalan, Spanish and English, written and spoken.
 Availability for traveling abroad.

ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS
 Training and experience in one or more of these topics: Citizen Science, Data Management, Integration Analysis and Web Mapping.
 Previous experience in citizen science projects.
 Experience in application development in JavaScript and Python.
 Experience in application development in C.
 Experience in script programming.
 Experience in developing applications for the cloud.
 Knowledge on geospatial standards.
 Preference for Microsoft Windows based systems.

SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA
The selection process is led by the research project team, and will be overseen by the Management Office and the Human Resources Area of CREAF. This process consists of:

1. Admission of candidates: applicants must submit a résumé, a cover letter (maximum 500 words) and the questionnaire attached to the offer (filled), by e-mail to laboral@creaf.uab.cat, until 30 August 2019, 2 PM, indicating the reference code of the offer. Applications referred to another portal, different than CREAF job openings section and the instructions included in this portal, will not be accepted.
2. Pre-selection: determination of compliance with the minimum requirements of the offer.
3. Selection: assessment of the preselected candidates by scoring based on objective criteria.
4. Final decision: in case of finding the suitable person, the election will be formally communicated to him/her, and the identification of the chosen person will be published on the CREAF job openings section.
